Flu clinics -2018

Please support your GP Practice and have your flu vaccination with us.  Appointments can be booked from September 1st. Clinics will be held at various times during September and October.

The NHS has instructed us to use three different types of flu vaccination this year.

Eligible children aged 2 – 17 years inclusive will receive the nasal spray as they have done in previous years and this is expected to be available from mid-October. At risk babies aged 6 – 23 months inclusive will receive the same vaccination as the 18 to 64 year olds.

Eligible at risk patients aged between 18 and 64 years will receive the quadrivalent flu vaccination (in the form of the injection).

Patients aged 65 years and over will receive the adjuvant trivalent flu vaccination (in the form of an injection).

For this year, as with all GP practices, the vaccine for patients aged 65 years and over is being delivered in 3 stages and we have been advised to invite patients in the following priority order. The same advice apply to pharmacies.

Priority 1: Patients aged 75 years and over or those in a nursing or residential home

Priority 2: Patients aged 65 – 74 years in a clinical risk group

Priority 3: Patients aged 65 – 74 years NOT in a clinical risk group

Invitations by text and letter will be sent out using this framework

We expect the vaccine for our patients aged 65 years and over to arrive between mid-September and the start of November. This delivery schedule still allows for all groups to be vaccinated before the “flu season”, which normally starts in early December. The same restrictions apply to pharmacies.

There are no delivery restrictions for the flu vaccine for patients aged 18 to 64 years.
